This week Live Theatre are bringing Newcastle the annual bundle of joy that is Elevator Festival, a week of workshops, performances and sharing of work-in-progress plays from the North-East and beyond.
One of the things that makes Elevator Festival so great is its element of participation. One example of this is the scratch night, in which artists share their works-in-progress and get audience feedback. This both allows the audience to speak directly to writers and directors about their works (something I for one am often dying to do after a performance), but also allows theatre artists to gain valuable feedback on how their work is coming across to audiences.
This alone with directing and verbatim theatre workshops makes Elevator Festival a uniquely interactive theatre festival, and not one to be missed. With reasonably priced tickets to events, you'd be a fool to miss it. Find links to various events and shows here!
