My week, started by visiting the newly opened GOODS and grabbing some frozen yoghurt and with the option to pick multiple toppings I was incredibly excited! However, when I got to the till to pay, I was told there were no smaller options available, so when I was told the price for the large one, my heart almost fell out of my chest.
I can, however, testify that the fro-yo was delicious, was it worth the price tag? I’m not entirely convinced. My final verdict: delicious but extortionate.
Aside from my fro-yo financial crisis, I decided that entering second year was an opportunity to establish new habits and routines. These included completing every essential reading relevant to my lectures, and a new aim to be consistent with the gym.
To ensure that I fulfilled my goals, I ventured into the Henry Daysh building with my friends to complete my readings, in which we were very productive. After our little study session, we returned to Jesmond with exciting plans for our evening ahead: watching tv on the sofa and eating biscuits. Although admittedly, not the most riveting, chill evenings in are essential to our weekly routine, as it allows us to rejuvenate after busy days at university.
I would recommend a little day trip around Gosforth; whether you are looking change of scenery, a new coffee shop, or simply to explore the charity shops, it has something for everyone.
On more exciting topics, later on in the week, me and my friends decided to explore somewhere new in Newcastle and we decided on Gosforth. The timing, however, alongside the weather was not our finest decision as we were caught in a torrential downpour. Nevertheless, It was a lovely area, with a great high street for charity shopping and I found bargains in a jumper and two bracelets, to add to my ever-growing jewellery collection. After our success in the charity shops, we completed our trip with a café visit called Etto on the Park which, as the name suggests overlooked the park. After the market, we walked the coastal path along Longsands beach, taking in the beautiful sea views before ending our trip with fish and chips.
Concluding my week in the life, a Sunday in Newcastle wouldn't be complete without visiting Tynemouth. Tynemouth is very popular among students for a reason; we browsed the famous market and I was successful in purchasing two CDs to add to my collection; ABC’s The Lexicon of Love and Oasis’ Definitely Maybe. After the market, we walked the coastal path along Longsands beach, taking in the beautiful sea views before ending our trip with fish and chips. Tynemouth was a perfect trip to round up a very exciting week in my life as a Newcastle University student!
