In recent weeks, the biopic cast was revealed on official postcards which were placed around the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, an institution co-founded by Paul McCartney in 1996.
The confirmed cast promises Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keogan as Ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon. Other established names including Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce have also been confirmed to co-star in the series.
However, there is some divide between fans over such casting decisions. Whilst many appreciate the emphasis on British talent, some members of Beatlemania haven’t missed that the cast is undoubtedly star studded and have recognised perhaps a missed opportunity to feature some lesser known or up and coming actors in the project which we expect to document The Beatle’s own rise to fame.
So, what can the legacy of the world’s most beloved boyband expect in light of this upcoming series?
As with similar recent releases, such as Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 film ‘Elvis’, it seems safe to assume that the project will invite a new generation of listeners to The Beatles. The deep dive into The Beatle’s history that viewers are sure to be gifted across the four-film feature will lay a foundation to appreciate the (sometimes turbulent) career of pop culture’s most famous band. Beatlemania never truly went extinct but come the films’ release in 2028, it’s likely to erupt once more.
