The best spots in Jesmond to get a boozy bevy or a caffeine kick

Whether you’re in need of a boiling brew on the way to your 9 a.m. or a mojito after a manic Monday, Jesmond is set to cater to your every drinkable desire.

Both in and around the infamous Osbourne road are some of Newcastle’s best coffee-houses and cocktail bars and these are some of Jesmond’s hidden gems:

  1. Cake Stories Coffee House and Cakery

This quaint and quirky bakery located at 12 Brentwood Avenue is a family run business at the heart of Jesmond offering an array of sweet treats and caffeinated cuppas. The vintage venue is the perfect location to grab a maple latte and a slice of red velvet cake and finally get started on that autumn reading list. Cake Stories is open from 9am until 9:30pm throughout the week, therefore providing the perfect cosy revision spot whether you’re an early riser or a night owl.

  1. 1901 Caffe Bistro

Alternatively, if you’re looking for the perfect place for a vegan brunch or gluten free snack to accompany your afternoon tea then this is the coffee shop for you. This eclectic café is located on St George’s Terrace and offers the perfect place for a chai latte or a pot of bluebird tea. Caffe 1901 welcomes everyone including furry friends and students and often distributes discount vouchers via the Jesmond Methodist church.

  1. Jam Jar

Right at the heart of Jesmond set at 88 Osborne road is the cocktail hot spot with its own neon jam jar overlooking the bar. This eccentric venue offers a happy hour on Mondays and Wednesdays between 6pm-10pm for 2-4-1 cocktails. The infamous twists on classic cocktails such as the Pornjar Martini and the offer of unlimited prosecco for 2 hours in the morning during a bottomless brunch make Jam Jar the perfect place for a stiff drink whatever the time of day.

  1. 97 & Social

Just a couple of doors down at 97 Osborne road is the vibrant Cocktail and Gastro bar providing the best named cocktails in Jesmond such as Tea Thyme, Elderflower Power and Nettle Negroni. All day Monday, Thursday and Sunday there are 2-4-1 cocktails which provides the perfect excuse for a catch up with your course mates over a sophisticated cocktail.

Whether you’re a coffee lover or a cocktail enthusiast, Jesmond is the idyllic location to work and play at any time of day.
