Hand-built by its innovative owner using sustainable materials, Earthlings is a space based on mindfulness and wellbeing, hosting a vast variety of events to help heal the mind, soul, and body, including free meditation sessions, relaxing live music, and yoga classes, all of which are open to all. However, the main attraction in my opinion is the delightful range of smoothies, juices, coffees, cakes, and irresistible freshly made dishes from around the world. Having recently updated their menu to include newly developed recipes packed with health benefits and serious flavour, it’s time to see what Earthlings The Healing Café has in store.
Earthlings is a space based on mindfulness and wellbeing
We started with two delightful drinks, accompanied by a pair of outstanding small plates. First, a sweet, refreshing iced cacao latte, lightly spiced, rich, and satisfyingly creamy with a deep chocolate flavour. This comforting, freshly blended drink works beautifully with spice, acting as a cooling palate cleanser, and may have even replaced my usual morning coffee. We also tried the peanut butter cacao latte, a smooth, warming, not-too-sweet hot drink, featuring earthy peanut butter notes and a light, frothy top.
We paired these refreshing beverages with Earthlings' new Arabic samosas - crispy, golden parcels loaded with delicately spiced vegetables. Beautifully presented, these samosas were complemented by a zingy spiced hummus that can only be described as a flavour bomb. Alongside this mouth-watering dish, we indulged in the aloo tiki. Crispy on the outside, soft and gently spiced on the inside, this dish is sure to leave you wanting more. The potato parcels were carefully placed on a bed of perfectly cooked savoury chickpeas, and paired with two vibrant chutneys for an ever-evolving burst of flavours.
After savouring these small plates, we moved on to the main event. First, an elevated twist on the classic katsu curry, generously portioned and piping hot. Earthlings uses succulent paprika-spiced oyster mushrooms in a perfectly crisp coating, served atop a mound of fluffy white rice and drenched in a sweet, earthy katsu sauce that’s as vibrant in colour as it is in taste. The curried vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the crispy makhana added a fun crunch to balance their tender texture.
Finally, we sampled the café’s vegan take on the beloved omelette. The moonglet, made from moong dal (yellow split lentils), captured the light, fluffy texture of a traditional omelette, with an added depth of flavour that's impossible to miss. Earthlings' moonglet was generously filled with savoury spiced cauliflower, juicy mushrooms, and a sweet, vibrant sauce, all drizzled with a rich green dressing that created the perfect harmonious bite. This dish was yet another beautifully presented plate, bursting with as much colour as flavour.
