After kicking off with a resounding 17-7 win at home to Chester we were faced with a derby against the poly where we came out 11-3 victors putting us joint top of the league. Our first away on the 13th September resulted in a 14-1 win against Sheffield and took the team 3 points clear. Former Champions Manchester travelled north but Newcastle stood strong, delivering a 7-5 win and, on the 28th November, saw off an organised Leeds team 10-1.
Success isn’t limited to the 1s either as the 2s have kicked on and collected their first wins of the season against Teesside and York which add an important 6 points to their point from the 8-8 thriller with York earlier on in the campaign. The 2s are looking to carry the winning form into the second half of the season to climb to the top of the table.
Sam Elliott has been absolutely lethal in front of goal for the 1s, scoring 10 goals and assisting 12 so far which takes him to the top of the goal charts. Will Snook is 2s top scorer with an impressive 7 goal return. At the other end of the court, our goalkeepers have been phenomenal, with Tom James and David Benatar both making excellent saves on numerous occasions this season to keep the ball out the net. So far, so good here at Newcastle Uni Futsal, long may it continue!
