The seated bar is situated within the Fenwick food court and is modelled after a 1920s Parisian-style wine bar, opening its doors for the first time on October 24th and running until just after Christmas. The menu features all the Greggs classics poshed-up by the bar's Head Chef Mark Reid and paired with premium prosecco and Champagne. The bar is fitted with all the bells and whistles of a real champagne bar, even down to the actual bells at each seat to call over your server when you wish to order.
The menu also features a variety of cocktails all based off of the classic Greggs dessert menu. This includes the ‘Pink Jammie Fizz’, a cocktail based on the classic Pink Jammie Doughnut, the 'Yum Yum Twist', which is specially crafted using real Greggs Yum Yums and a sugar glaze around the glass. Last but definitely not least is the 'Cream Eclair' which uses a dark chocolate liqueur and vanilla vodka for a decadent sip. For non-alcoholic drinkers, they also have the 'Peach Melba', a refreshing mix of peach and cream, so nobody misses out on giving them a try.
I paid a personal visit on the second day of opening and found that the food prices are very reasonable on a student budget if you fancy treating yourself. £4 for a posh sausage roll is quite good for the experience and the Cheese and Onion Bake with romesco sauce and almonds is delicious. Expect to pay a lot if you’re getting champagne though, I just stuck with tap water! Bookings are being taken now on the Fenwick website and availability is very limited, so act now if you fancy treating yourself this Christmas. It’s an ideal date spot for the Greggs connoisseur in your life and a nice treat to experience with friends during the holiday season.
