The novel, An Offer from a Gentlemen, is inspired by the story of Cinderella with our female lead, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), is a housemaid that sneaks into the Bridgerton’s masquerade ball. Our two leads, Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie fall for each other despite the mystery of not knowing each other’s faces or identities.
The preview images introduce us to new characters, Sophie’s evil stepmother and stepsisters; Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung), Rosamund (Michelle Mao) and Posy (Isabella Wei). From the images, Rosamund seems to be more aligned with her mother as they both appear confident and assured which suggests she may play a more significant role than Posy who looks to be more reserved in the images.
At the Masquerade Ball, Lady Araminta and Rosamund both hold their masks to their face while Posy’s is tied around her head like Sophie’s, they are definitely husband hunting – maybe Rosamund will try to come between Sophie and Benedict?
We are introduced to Sophie Baek through 3 of the preview images, one of her and Benedict in the gardens at the ball, a close-up of her in her mask and one of her sat with other house servants around the kitchen table.
Sophie is referred to as the ‘Lady in Silver’ due to her dress at the masquerade ball, her style is more reminiscent of Season 1 of Bridgerton as it has more of a Regency silhouette as opposed to Season 3. My favourite detail of her dress are the bows on her sleeves, they almost blend in with the rest of the dress which I enjoy as it is more subtle than some of the other fashion choices we see in images from the ball.
We also see a private moment between Sophie and Benedict in the gardens, Benedict has removed Sophie’s glove and kisses her bare hand – how scandalous! I, for one, am excited to finally see Benedict as the focus, especially with Yerin Ha as Sophie.
