While the UK is wrapping up in scarves and battling icy winds, some of us are dreaming of swapping the snow for sand and hot chocolate for cocktails by the sea. The good news? You don't need to fly halfway around the world to catch some festive rays. Here are some warm destinations where you can keep that Christmas tan going strong.

Canary Islands, Spain

If you want guaranteed sun, the Canaries are a classic for a reason: think Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote… all basking in 22–25°C weather over Christmas. Lounge on golden beaches, explore volcanic landscapes, or sip cocktails while the UK is freezing-it's basically a holiday win.

Madeira, Portugal

Madeira proudly carries the nickname of the "Island of Eternal Spring," and for good reason. Expect highs to lie around 20-22°C, perfect for hiking cliffs, taking in charming towns, or simply getting some much-needed vitamin D. Bonus: Madeira's New Year fireworks are epic if you're staying through the holidays!

Cyprus

Cyprus in December is a very pleasant 17–21°C, perfect for wandering ancient ruins, strolling along the sandy beaches, or chilling in a seaside café. It is a sun holiday with culture on the side to make one feel cultured while tanning.

Malta

Malta remains mild at 16–20°C while you explore the historical streets, festive Christmas markets, or even some hidden beaches. And who doesn't love a Christmas break filled with Mediterranean charm?

Algarve, Portugal

For the beach lover who wants fewer crowds, the Algarve is the place to go. With temperatures in the high teens, cliffside walks, golden beaches, and fresh seafood are yours for the taking, without the madness of summer. It's a bit like a chill, sun-soaked Christmas postcard.

Southern Spain (Andalusia)

Costa del Sol, Marbella, Malaga-all the sun, all the tapas, and all the Christmas vibes. Expect highs in the high teens to low 20s°C-perfect for beach walks by day and festive Spanish dinners by night.

As the UK freezes in December, you might just be topping up your tan, sipping something fruity, and having a sunny Christmas. Who says the festive season has to be cold?
