"Freakier Friday" is the follow-up to the 2003 film “Freaky Friday” which was made in the year of that iconic Britney Spears and Madonna kiss at the VMAs, and in a time when fortune cookies still carried a certain mystique – and a bad reputation for causing mother-daughter body swaps! In "Freakier Friday," years after Tess and Anna navigated their own chaotic body-swap adventure, we find Anna with a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they grapple with the complexities of blending two families, Tess and Anna soon realize that lightning might just strike twice, plunging them into another round of identity-bending mayhem. But what about the rest of the original crew? Will we see familiar faces like Ryan Malgarini (Harry) or Mark Harmon (Ryan)? And if so, how many of them will be joining the fun?
The trailer hints at familiar comedic beats, such as the initial shock and awkward adjustments to inhabiting another person's body. We see glimpses of the signature humor that made the first film a hit, including the chaotic attempts to reverse the swap, with characters jumping on each other in a desperate bid to return to their rightful bodies. And who could forget Lohan's rock-star style and the legendary song "Take Me Away"? Here's hoping we get a reprise of that awkward but iconic scene where Tess (in Anna's body) is about to perform, creating a nerve-wracking moment as we wonder if she'll nail the riff or completely bomb!
Echoing the premise of the original, the trailer suggests a new generation is about to get a taste of the body-swap mayhem.
