Lake Windermere
Since the Lake District is known for large bodies of water and sublime mountain landscapes, it would be rude not to include my home: Lake Windermere. Areas of the lake include; Millerground, Fell Foot, and other small spots within the area. Personally, the best spots are the smaller, quieter areas. But I'm a gatekeeper, so I'll keep those ones a secret.
Bowness-on-Windermere
After spending a sunny summers day at the lake, why not treat yourself at the Lake View Garden Bar or Boaters Bar for some evening drinks and entertainment. Or, treat yourself at BAHA Bowness for Asian-fusion cocktail vibes - a bit on the pricier side, but still worth every penny.
Rydal Caves
Possibly one of my favourite little trails, hiking in Ambleside. Such a quaint area further north than Windermere, not as densely populated with tourists. The hike follows alongside the hill facing Rydal Waters, with small pools and waterfalls scattered on the hillside, leading up to the main caves.
Arnside Chip Shop
Back to the South Lakes, and possibly the best chippy in the North West. A family favourite for Friday night; either for local delivery or to sit and watch the sunset. Absolutely impeccable service, portion sizes, and wait times. Even catering for vegetarians and vegans. And yes, I'm biased.
The Lake District is the perfect area to grow up in, and visit as a tourist. I feel very blessed to grow up in such a beautiful area, and knowing what I know now, every time I come back it always feels like home.
