Travelling is a fun experience, but as a local in a famous vacation destination, let me tell you, it’s not.
Whenever I ask my friends if they have been to Spain, they always answer yes. As a curious person, I follow up on that question by asking where they've visited in Spain, and they always gave me the same answer: Mallorca or Tenerife. This happens to me more often than I would like to admit.
Of course, tourists get drawn to sunny places because they want to escape the gloomy weather- but Spain is not just beaches, sangría and paella. It's a country with different cultures everywhere you go, and I think tourists should try to explore them, just a little bit.
I was born in Northern Spain, and seeing my city and its surroundings downplayed by tourists makes me sad, as they only think that Spain has only one landscape.
In reality, it's one of the most diverse countries in the world.
It's a country with different cultures everywhere you go...

The north of Spain is a hidden treasure, and when people discover it, they fall in love. For instance, not far from where I’m from, we have one of the most extensive mountain ranges in Europe, Picos de Europa National Park. It offers impressive scenery and is home to two of the most emblematic animals in Spain: the brown bear and the Iberian wolf.

It’s not only the environment that makes the north famous. Food and culture are also a part of the credit. When we talk about food in the north, we talk about an exceptional culinary experience that reflects the history of this part of the country. Each dish tells a different story, and it offers an exclusive experience. Most of them contain seafood, which is commonly associated with being close to the Atlantic Ocean.
Spain is worth exploring... it offers unique experiences that you won’t get if you only go to hotels with all-inclusive wristbands.
