Set 2 was a repeat of Set 1’s result, as Northumbria continued their impressive form with a 25-21 victory, leading the match 2-0.
However, Newcastle was not about to back down without a fight. Set 3 saw them rally to win 25-21, keeping the match alive and setting up a dramatic finale. The tension was palpable, with both teams pushing each other to the limit.
In a thrilling fourth set, Northumbria showed incredible resilience, battling through each point and staying focused to claim a hard-fought 29-27 win. This victory secured Northumbria the overall match win after almost 2 hours of intense volleyball action.
Throughout both matches, key players emerged for both teams. Newcastle’s setter, Neil Rea, and outside hitters, Ollie Tuck and Matthew Milne, contributed to crucial points in both attack and defence. Meanwhile, Northumbria’s setter, Noah Sykes, and opposite, Kelechi Bell, gave a masterclass of volleyball. Both teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and athleticism, making for an unforgettable series of sets.
