A recent robbery of a truck by real life burglars in a violent assault has led to a number of copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End being stolen in the UK.
Of course, the main worry should be focused on capturing these criminals and ensuring that the victims are properly cared for as it must have been a very distressing event (although thankfully no injuries have been reported). The other concern is that, due to being stolen before release, the game is being spoiled by those who play the game early.
It is very rare to hear that physical copies of games have been stolen before release especially with console games. The most common form of stealing video games is on PC through the pirating of games, which even then has declined massively through measures by developers such as the highly unpopular DRM. On console piracy is very difficult – however, no anti-piracy measures can ever prevent physical copies being stolen.
Especially considering that this Drake’s swan song, it would certainly be a shame for it to be spoiled.
It is a travesty that details of the game’s story have already been spoiled. Uncharted 4 is the climax of the action-adventure third-person shooter platform video game series created by Naughty Dog, following fortune hunter Nathan Drake on his last adventure. The games have been renowned for their brilliant stories, having become a jewel in the crown for both Sony and Naughty Dog, with the second in the series considered one of the greatest games of all time. Especially considering that this Drake’s swan song, it would certainly be a shame for it to be spoiled. For all players new and old, who will rightfully pay for the game, plus the developers who have lovingly-crafted this fantastic series, that sense of satisfaction of the ending of a wonderful long-running tale being ruined is almost as horrible as the crime itself.
