Okay so there's been no 'official' announcement as such just yet, but given that Wilde herself retweeted the Deadline Hollywood article breaking the news with a spider emoji, we can take a not-so-wilde guess and get caught up in this web of news...
Spider-Woman rumours have been around for a while now, so perhaps following the huge success of 2018's Into the Spider-Verse where Hailee Steinfeld voiced "Spider-Gwen", Sony have finally caught onto the fact that yes! Women do make quite good superheroes, thank you very much.
Back in May, Variety reported that S.J.Clarkson had signed on to develop Sony's first female-centric character for a film, with insiders hinting at a Madame Web adaptation. Whether these two projects are connected or not is yet to be confirmed, but it's looking likely.
But before Wilde can get her teeth sunk into the spider-verse, she's got a growing to-do list to get through. With her name on the directors chair for Don't Worry Darling and The New Line to start filming later this year, it might be a little while before we see the results of all these rumours.
Either way, Mr Stark, I'm feeling pretty damn good about this.
