In the last two weeks, Blackpink, the Korean female group have sparked the Coachella stage with their amazing performances and stunning outfits. On the 15th and 22nd of April, Blackpink performed 18 songs for nearly 90 minutes each day, it is said that they were turning Coachella into their own “Pinkchella”!
Throwback to 2019, Blackpink was first invited to perform at Coachella on the Sahara stage. After four years, they have grown their global popularity with multiple records broken and they have become the first female K-Pop group to headline at Coachella. How inspiring!
Here are my favourite performances of Pinkchella! :
One of Lisa’s solo songs, it’s a very powerful performance! The song had a strong hip-hop rhythm in the back, the lyrics are catchy and all in English. The crowd is so good to catch with Lisa. The dancing of this song perfectly shows Lisa’s dancing skills and her unique glamor. The last dance sequence is so powerful, the dancers are all lined up, and Lisa and her stage charm absolutely blew me away!
This performance is presented like a theatre show. In the whole show, there are a lot of dancers holding feathers to cover them and using those feathers very well with the music. The music is re-composed so well with the live band and the mixer. Even though I love the original version of this song, I would still prefer this version to a live performance! It’s so cool! Apart from the music, their live singing and rapping are impressive, showing their stage presence glamorously!
This is their first song in Coachella on week 2. In the start, it’s like they have a group of dancers doing the opening to welcome their queens. The dancers bowed when Blackpink show up on the top, it’s so dramatic but very powerful. I can sense the excitement from the crowd by their great singing -I did the same thing in front of my laptop.
Watching them on the Coachella stage, performing confidently as an Asian female group is really inspiring. Personally, I gain more courage and confidence after listening to their songs. I feel incredibly honoured to see them becoming the inspirations to all Asian girls and women, letting more people know how talented and beautiful Asian females can be.
Apart from Coachella, they starred in Carpool Karaoke hosted by James Corden. In the episode, they answered questions about their early life as trainees in YG entertainment and their role models who inspired them as a female group. It’s a really fun episode, highly recommend watching it!
Here is my little recommendation for Blackpink’s songs! Unlike their top songs on the chart like “How you like that”, “Kill this love”, “Pink Venom” etc. These songs are softer but still very catchy and all my favourite!
