This time of year is an exciting one for the Newcastle University Music Society as we wait in anticipation in the lead up to our annual Christmas Concert.

The past few months of practice and hard work will culminate in an evening of fabulous varied music in the King’s Hall on December 10th. I’m so pleased to say that we’ll have six of our wonderful ensembles performing on the night, including vocal ensembles, brass ensembles, and full orchestras.

The night will include notable works such as Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake Suite’ and Rossini’s ‘Barber of Seville Overture’ performed by the MUSSOC Chamber Orchestra, as well as Vaughn Williams’ ‘Fantasia on Christmas Carols’ performed by the MUSSOC Chamber Choir and accompanied by the MUSSOC String Ensemble and Organ.

Here at the Music Society, we pride ourselves on offering a varied range of ensembles and musical practices, and our talented ensemble leaders have carefully selected repertoire to ensure that this evening will be one you can’t miss. Thanks to the determination, commitment, and rigour of our dedicated members, we can proudly display the musical achievements we’ve all worked so hard towards.

The concert will take place on Sunday December 10th at the King’s Hall in the Armstrong Building. Tickets are £5, and £3 for concessions, students and over 60’s. We’d love to see as many of you as possible there, musicians or non-musicians alike!
