Returning to Newcastle's music scene for their second event on the 15th of November, Zeytoun Arts Collective is coming together for a unique cause: using music as a vehicle for unity and change. The fundraising event, dedicated to raising money in solidarity with the people of Gaza, has grown into a vibrant celebration of culture and community.

Almost a year after their previous event, which raised £4,746 for ‘Medical Aid for Palestinians’, the conversation of the crisis in Palestine and its need for our support remains as urgent as ever. Taking place in World HQ, the collective aims to build on the success of last year, with a genre-defying blend of music transcending the boundaries of Newcastle’s soundscape.

What truly sets this event apart is its pioneering musical identity. At the forefront of this is Omar, a Palestinian DJ who showcases Arabic culture through his unique genre. The fusion of the soulful lyrics and funky grooves of Habibi funk with popular big beats creates a sound that is truly spectacular.

While the ultimate goal of the event is to raise funds for the people of Palestine, the collective’s mission and goals drive so much deeper than this. By focusing on the power of personal stories and the versatility of Palestinian culture, the aim is to shift the narrative that has been repeatedly reinforced by mainstream media to one of humanity and the awareness around the country’s rich heritage and history.

Building on the momentum of last November, this second event promises to be even bigger and better. This is about more than just the beats; it’s about solidarity. Every ticket sold, every song played, carries a message. The proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to support humanitarian efforts in Palestine, but the impact goes beyond financial support. By highlighting Palestinian culture through music, the event raises awareness and fosters a deeper understanding of the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people. It’s a beautiful example of how art and activism can intersect to inspire change.

You can join the movement on the 15th November at World HQ for an unforgettable night of music and solidarity.
