Airing just half an hour after Gogglebox finishes on a Friday, it never fails to provide me (and my housemates) with the late night entertainment and laughter needed after a long week. While others are out partying, me and my ol' self are sat watching Graham Norton and I have absolutely zero regrets. Here's a selection of my favourite moments from the show.
Graham Norton has no limits when it comes to his show, as evidenced when Hugh Grant was a guest. During his time on the show, he recreated one of his infamous love confession scenes in the rain, this one from Four Weddings and a Funeral but with a twist. Graham Norton was the love interest. What makes this moment so funny is the excessive amount of water poured onto Graham before he asks "is it still raining" with which even more water comes pouring down on his head. Hugh Grant tries so hard to keep a straight face and I don't blame him for laughing. It was truly iconic and everything you would expect from Graham Norton and more.
The Graham Norton Show is also known for having some of the greatest artists perform, whether this is Stormzy, BTS or Taylor Swift. However, no one was expecting the performance of Will Smith and Alfonso! (I won't deny that it makes me want to get up and do the Carlton every time I remember this episode). What started out as Will and Jaden rapping turned into something crazy and I loved every single minute of it. Especially when Graham himself got involved. The Graham Norton show places these A-list celebrities outside of their comfort zone every single time, and this performance holds a special place in my heart simply because of the love I have for the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and the absolute chaotic energy of the entire performance. Seriously, watch it - you will not regret it.
One of the best things about Graham Norton is how he brings together a vast range of different celebrities from Lady Gaga to Dot from EastEnders. If you have Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender on the sofa, you know you're in for a good one. The same with Chris Pratt and just about anyone. That man is funny. Sometimes, though, these celebrities form such endearing friendships during their time together on the show, it's endearing. One of my favourites, has to be Ian Mckellen and Harry Styles. Talking about how Lord of the Rings has become a classic for superstars like One Direction to now binge, Harry whispers to Ian 'you're amazing' with which Ian replies 'so are you'. And honestly, who knew a friendship could be so pure...
Finally, it's not The Graham Norton Show if Graham isn't embarrassing his guests in one way or another. Whether this be revealing Olly Murs' crush and dream mother of his child to be Mila Kunis when the woman herself is at the opposite end of the sofa, or introducing Daniel Radcliffe to the world of Harry Potter fan-fiction, Graham always manages to reveal some deep hidden repressed story about the celebrities. One that will always stick with me is Hugh Jackman's story about him performing as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast which he described as his "most embarrassing moment in life." Jackman talks us how he drank 4 litres of water before going on stage and his excessive desire to go the toilet and not having time, goes onto stage, energetic and singing his line while weeing himself at the same time. Honestly, as a huge fan of Hugh Jackman, that story made me chuckle and has always stuck with me. If you want to know the most embarrassing moments of your favourite celebrities lives, you can count on Graham to reveal them.
The Graham Norton Show is where we get to see some of the biggest actors from TV and Film tell their secrets, get exposed and more likely than not embarrassed or open up about their lives and about the projects their working on. It's a show where from the start, I know it's going to put me in a good mood if it's got the right line-up. Let me know what some of your favourite moments from the show are in the comments!
