An opportunity to meet new people, explore Newcastle and try new clubs and societies. The freshers wristbands were all over the Students union socials but were they worth the price?

The famous wristband cost £50 this year and has been one of the main factors influencing the experience of freshers at Newcastle University. Every event, night out and activity organized by the university was included in this, and we can't say there weren't many.

The real question people were asking themselves before and after purchasing this was, “will I really make use of it?”. The most energetic ones have attended everything possible on this list, others have gone to what fits more their interests, and others have found themselves not finding the time to attend to many of these opportunities.

There is no denying of the fact that the opportunities were given to us students, but did we take them?

Personally, I didn't take part in buying the wristband, but it does by not mean that freshers week wasn’t what I expected and more. Not obtaining the wristband didn't mean not enjoying my freshers week, but only chose to pay for some activities.

Nevertheless, even if deciding to pay for none, you could still find a freebie fair, free events, free pizza and more on campus. Whatever you like, there was definitely a thing for you to check out in the students union.

Freshers week has definitely lived up to the hype, and left many of us exhausted and ready to start!
