Nintendo’s second stream of the year has set the bar high with a new Donky Kong 3D Platformer ‘Donkey Kong Bonanza!’, ‘The Dusk Bloods’ (a new title from Fromsoftware), ‘Deltarune’ Chapters 3 & 4 and of course, a new look at the Switch 2 releasing on June 5th, 2025, alongside ‘Mario Kart World! Starting with a new look at the Switch 2, the classic switch that we all know, and love has got a massive upgrade with a new integrated microphone, C button and camera add on to support a party chat function that allows friends to videocall whilst playing! In addition to this, a new Gameshare feature (basically DS Download play for us oldies) now allows players who don’t own a title to borrow It from a friend. After the opening talks about Hardware, developer Kouichi Kawamoto directed the audience to some upcoming titles from Nintendo’s publishing and development partners. The most notable games announced in this included the next two chapters in Toby Fox’s acclaimed series ‘Deltarune’ , the highly anticipated ‘Hollow Knight Silksong’ and a new Donkey Kong title ‘Donkey Kong Bonanza!’. Ending this segment, much to my absolute shock, was a new Fromsoftware title ‘The Duskbloods’ releasing 2026 which looks suspiciously like ‘Bloodbourne’.... ? and a new Kirby title ‘Kirby Air Riders!’ which when it was revealed, tricked some viewers into thinking a new Smash game was being announced! (Maybe in the near future we will see another Smash!).
After all of the excitement died down, it was clear that fans were eager to find out the price of these upcoming releases as during the stream, Nintendo did not reveal any indication as to how much the console would set gamers back. To everyone’s horror, the console itself is going to retail at £395 on its own with games priced at £75 for physical copies. This is a more than £100 mark up from the original Switch and I am sure that many fans will now be questioning if it is worth purchasing on launch day.
