For those unfamiliar, the Oram Awards is a platform for championing female and gender-expansive musicians. They support aspiring creatives and innovators through mentorships, bursaries and development opportunities.

...And they're coming to our beloved city of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

In partnership with the Outlands Network, and in celebration of what would've been electronic pioneer Daphne Oram's 100th birthday, the Oram Awards are embarking on the oram/100 tour.

With a focus on spotlighting grassroot venues, and an emphasis on connecting with young creatives outside of London, the tour will be travelling to Sheffield, Bristol, Salford/Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Derby and Wirksworth.

The tour will feature workshops, industry professional talks, performances from previous award winners, as well as opportunities to learn about electronic music, sound design, and creative technologies.

If you're a local artist, or just a fan wanting to learn more and discover new talent, there's no better place to look.

The Newcastle event will take place on 15 November 2025 at Cobalt Studios (NE2 1AP), in the heart of one of Newcastle's most creative spaces, Shieldfield.

There'll be DJ and synth workshops hosted by Newcastle DJ and electronic music collective L.A.D.S, including special guest Frankie Archer - local elctrofolk talent known for her impressive fiddle performances.

There's additional performances from Newcastle-based improviser and live coder Shelly Knotts, renowned for creating collaborative, innovative electronic music, and highly acclaimed experimental producer and DJ Beatrice Dillon, noted for her skills in blending minimalism, dub, and complex rhythms.

For any students that are aspiring DJs in your spare time, this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the time and support from industry professionals.

If this sounds like a bit of you, see here for more information and tickets.
