Get ready, because on the 1st of July 2022, everyone's favourite, dungaree wearing, banana-eating, chaos-causing besties are back! Minions: The Rise of Gru is the long-awaited sequel to Minions, which was a prequel to the trio of Despicable Me movies.
Quite a complicated storyline, especially for kids’ animation, but who cares when you’ve got Kevin, Steve and Bob running around causing havoc. It will be the 5th time we have seen them reach the big screen, and as the face of Illumination Studios, these little fellas have really made a name for themselves.
But now we turn back in time to young Gru, and it's his time to show the world he can be the biggest super-villain in the world. The legendary Steve Carell returns to voice the Minions’ ‘mini boss’, but during the 70’s - some of today’s biggest names in music (from Phoebe Bridgers to Tame Impala with Diana Ross) have even done covers of some 70’s classics, creating an amazing soundtrack. The trailer is nothing short of chaotic, with a dragon that turns Kevin into a mutant rabbit of sorts. Let’s hope that one is explained...
I could talk about my love for the Minions for pages and pages - no, seriously! With a new boss, new gadgets and a star-studded soundtrack, I expect lots of fun, lots of mayhem and hopefully some more wholesome Bob moments. Fingers crossed this will be that dose of serotonin we are all desperately craving!
