Get your tissues at the ready as our favourite heart-warming university-based comedy 'Big Boys' is marking its last chapter, and it certainly is a grand finale. Third year is now in full force, with Corinne, Danny and Jack struggling with balancing relationships, dissertations, graduate plans alongside the Big Boys classic underpinning of grief, mental health, and loss.

Now for those who haven’t watched the third and final season I am issuing a pre warning that there may be some spoilers in this review, so read on with caution.

The season starts out with a bang, with Jack’s family heading off to Greece, with Corinne, Danny and Yemi following close behind. After a disastrous start to the holiday Jack finally looses his virginity in a tent on the cliffs of Greece. Corrine and Danny grapple with some relationship issues, and as the group heads back to Brent, Yemi makes a stark announcement that he is dropping out of university to start up his own female fashion brand.

As the foursome is reduced to a trio the group is suddenly faced with thesis topics and the reality of third year, as the pressure is rising Danny’s world is rocked when Corinne decides to go for a master’s course in Edinburgh, leading him to end the relationship and head back to Margate. In the penultimate episode Danny is facing the death of his Nan and the reality that unlike Jack, he doesn’t have a loving family to head back to after university ends.

The final series truly captures everything Big Boys is about, from exploring British queer youth, the stark reality of depression and grief.

Now words cannot describe how poignant the last episode is, writer and narrator the real Jack Rooke enters the episode properly for the first time. The sadness and warmth that radiates from this episode truly captures the serious and yet funny show we have come to love, and finally brings a conclusion to what really happens with Danny.

The final series truly captures everything 'Big Boys' is about, from exploring British queer youth, the stark reality of depression and grief alongside the coming of age wrapping which exemplifies the pressure of trying to ‘figure it all out’. It brings cries, laughs, and everything in-between. Rooke truly highlights the mess of being human and the growing pains of progressing into adulthood. The last series truly doesn’t disappoint and is a beautiful ending to such a heart-warming series.
