An overview of the weeks European action, as Arsenal astonished in Eindhoven and Alisson saved the Reds from a rampant PSG.

Club Brugge 1 – 3 Aston Villa: Emery’s men were impressive in Brugge, with Leon Bailey, an own goal from Brandon Mechele, and the on-fire Marco Asensio giving the Villains a healthy lead to take to Villa Park.

The first instalment of El Derbi Madrileño did not disappoint.

Real Madrid 2 – 1 Atlético de Madrid: The first instalment of El Derbi Madrileño did not disappoint, with impressive forwards Rodrygo and Julián Alvarez scoring magnificent goals for their respective sides, before Brahim Díaz gave the reigning champions the advantage in the tie.

PSV 1 – 7 Arsenal: The Gunners all but booked their flights to Madrid with a staggering performance against PSV, putting to bed any fears of a lack of firepower. Timber, Nwaneri, Merino, Ødegaard, Trossard and Calafiori all got onto the scoresheet for Arsenal, with Noa Lang’s penalty rendered nothing but a consolation.

Borussia Dortmund 1 – 1 LOSC Lille: It is still all to play for in this tie, as Dortmund continued to underperform against a dark horse Lille side. After a lovely strike from Karim Adeyemi gave Dortmund the lead, Lille’s Hákon Arnar Haraldsson dragged them level going into the second leg.

Feyenoord 0 – 2 Inter Milan: Goals from Inter’s strikers Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez hold them in good stead for the second leg, but they may yet live to rue Piotr Zieliński's missed second-half penalty.

FC Bayern Munich 3 - 0 Bayer 04 Leverkusen: Harry Kane’s brace and a Jamal Musiala goal helped ‘Die Roten’ establish a comfortable gap between them and the reigning Bundesliga champions, who weren’t helped by French defender Nordi Mukiele’s red card.

S.L. Benfica 0 - 1 FC Barcelona: Despite 17-year-old Pau Cubarsí being dismissed early in the game for a last man challenge, Barca will take a lead to the home leg, due to a gorgeous strike from their in-form Brazilian winger Raphinha.

Paris Saint-Germain 0 - 1 Liverpool F.C.: At the Parc des Prince, Luis Enrique’s Paris-Saint Germain dominated the visitors, peppering the goal with 27 shots as well as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s disallowed first-half goal. However, a masterclass in goalkeeping from Alisson allowed substitute Harvey Elliott to grab a winner at the death completely against the run of play.
