The UK's song is catchy and fun, although don't expect our first win in 28 years.

The British pop-country group Remember Monday have been picked to sing their song 'What the Hell Just Happened' for the UK in this year's Eurovision, but will their song be able to compete with the likes of Sweden's KAJ or Austria's JJ?

With the lyrics of the song talking about the girl's experiences on a night out, and not being able to remember "what the hell just happened", the plot of the song is very straightforward and seems to have little deeper meaning. Despite this, the vocals and soundtrack bring the song to life and make it feel fun and upbeat. The girls harmonise and show off what their voices can do with both high and low notes coming from them throughout the song. Its chorus is very catchy, which will help them to remain in peoples minds when it comes to their performance in the final in May.

Overall, the feel of the song is very pop-girl group, with similar styled songs coming from the likes of Fifth Harmony and Little Mix. With this style of song working very well in late 2010s pop, it is hard to tell whether this will be able to gain the outreach that it would've back then. The group themselves first rose to fame in the 2019 series of The Voice where they were mentored by Jennifer Hudson, but they sadly couldn't make it past the knockout stages.

The British public don't seem too keen on this choice for Eurovision, with some people online saying that they are upset with the choice. Regardless of this, the entry is currently predicted to do better than the past two entries from the UK, with most predictions being from 11th to 13th. Because Sam Ryder's Space Man performed so well in 2022, it feels hard to beat. Unless Remember Monday can bring their song to life on stage like Ryder did then, it is unlikely that they will finish in the top 10.

On the whole, anything can happen when it comes to the Eurovision final, nothing is set in stone. The song itself may not have great odds currently, but with a good enough stage presence the girl group could rise their way up the rankings.
