Right now, when the streets are icy and cold and walking to the gym seems like an impossible mission, you are probably hating yourself for making it your goal of the year to follow a gym lifestyle. You are probably thinking you are not really that person, that you don't really have a gym personality and don't really care that much, but let me stop you there. You've been through so many days now to give up. You need to try and go back to that healthy mindset that you started with.
Think of all of those days when you thought of staying home but stood up and went to the gym, all the soreness your muscles have felt to get you to where you are now, and most importantly, think about how good it feels when you've achieved your goal.
But if none of this is making motivation kick in and you don't even remember why you started in the first place, try to go with a friend! Going to the gym with someone not only makes it a lot more entertaining and enjoyable, but it also gives you the motivation to go and an excuse to not bail in the morning because someone else is also being woken up by an alarm, and you can't abandon them now.
...learn to give yourself breaks and treat yourself to things that you love.
Lastly, something essential to keep on having a healthy mindset when following through on your gym lifestyle is to also learn to give yourself breaks and treat yourself to things that you love. Make it a reward system! Grab yourself a coffee afterwards, and go and eat something you love. Link the gym with positive things; it should have a positive impact on you and your mindset, not the opposite effect.
Doing exercise should be something that helps you have a healthy mindset, not the other way around, so treat yourself, go with friends, take breaks, and learn to listen to your body and its needs.
