After a grueling hiatus, Wolf Alice have masterfully orchestrated a triumphant comeback when fans worldwide truly needed them the most. Over the past few weeks, the band have been tantalisingly dropping cryptic teasers on social media, sending listeners into an eager frenzy of speculation and desperate desire. At last, the wait is over, and the revival is nothing short of glorious.

The new single, ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, is a record etched with utter passion and confident vulnerability. Ellie Rowsell’s deliciously whimsical vocals add such an intimacy to the lyrics that you feel like you are blooming beside her with every note, ‘neighbouring with the dirt’ as her harmonic melodies reverberate deeply in your core. The song captures the coming-of-age essence they engraved so deeply in their early discography and evolves into the monumental revelations discovered in your twenties. The playful looping piano paired with the primal pulsating beat of the drums creates an exquisitely arousing and undeniably hypnotic rhythm, intertwining the two eras of past and present with Wolf Alice's excellence.

In collaboration with director Colin Solal Cardo, known for his work with Charli XCX, and Emmy award-winning choreographer Ryan Heffington, the music video for 'Bloom Baby Bloom' presents a mesmerising display of the human body, weaving soulful movement and lyricism into a raw fluidity. It's beautifully unconventional, with its self-assured embrace of human nature and the unburdening of emotion. Ellie Rowsell said on BBC Radio 1, “It’s so amazing to see someone translate your work into their work,” admitting that she burst into tears after watching the choreography for the first time.

Announced live on BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders, Wolf Alice have confirmed their fourth studio album, The Clearing, is set for release on 29 August. It is a classic pop-rock album that nods to the 70s while holding loyalty to the present day, described as “if Fleetwood Mac wrote an album in North London today.” In a follow-up interview, bassist Theo Ellis referred to the exciting news as cathartic, he said, “‘It’s a labour of love. We really care about what we do, and we go away for a little while, and we really try and push ourselves and try and have a new experience between each other and surpass what we think we are capable of creatively.”

With the new single out and album on the way, Wolf Alice's resurrection is certain to redefine the genre. As the band prepare for their upcoming shows in Ireland before taking on the mainstage at BBC's Big Weekend in Liverpool, fans are oozing with enthusiasm as we yearn for the next dose of perfection they will undoubtedly bless us with.
