The Spaniard has already cemented himself as a regular starter for Barcelona and when talking about some of the best young players in the world, his name regularly appears. At the European Championships last year, Pedri became the youngest player to feature in a knockout game, aged 18 and 215 days.
Spain reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and Pedri started every game which equated to 629 minutes of football. That is just one minute shy of playing every single minute, in every game right up to and including the semi-finals.
Pedri signed a new contract with Barcelona last October, which keeps him at the Nou Camp until 2026. The included one billion euro release clause makes his value to the club more than clear.
The Spanish midfield looks stacked for the World Cup, with Spain manager Luis Enrique making Rodri, Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Carlos Soler, Koke and Llorente all available for selection in Qatar. Pedri is a given to start most, if not all of Spain’s games and this could be a real chance for the youngster to yet again showcase the technical gift he possesses.
Pedri will be coming up against some of the best midfielders in the world playing teams like Germany in the group stages. But this is something he will thrive off, having already made 14 Champions League appearances for Barcelona, playing against a selection of the best European teams.
Known for his creativity in the middle of the pitch, unbelievable engine and excellent passing range, Pedri likes to work down the left channel in games, allowing his left back to bomb down the line or get into a position for a cutback.
Keep an eye out for him in the World Cup as he could be the difference for Spain in Qatar.
