Hi Lizzy! What made you sign up for Blind date?
I have a friend who did the blind date earlier in the year and really enjoyed it. I also thought it would make a fun evening and just be a bit different!
What were your first impressions of Jess?
She was really friendly and I was jealous of how neat her eyeliner was!
Did you have anything in common?
We both like going out with friends to pubs and bars but neither of us are very into clubbing. We’re both dog people rather than cat people. And neither of us had ever done a blind date before!
What did you guys talk about?
We both have dogs and siblings so spent a lot of time talking about our families! We also both really enjoy travelling so spoke a lot about our summer plans too.
How did you find the Holy Hobo/ The quiz ?
I really enjoyed the quiz. The rounds change each week so you never quite know what you’re getting and the host was amazing. The music was pretty loud so it was quite hard to hear each other which did make things a bit more challenging!
Describe the date as one drink and why.
I’d have to say pornstar martini because we both love passionfruit!
If you did the quiz, which was the best section and why?
I really enjoyed the film round where we were played 20 second clips of famous films and had to identify them. It was the round where we both had a similar level of knowledge so it was nice to work together. Jess’s music knowledge is absolutely incredible but I don’t think I was much use on those questions! Having the quiz was also really nice for a first date as the activity kind of smoothed over any nerves and awkwardness at the beginning.
Do you think you'll see each other again?
I think probably just as friends but I’d love to chat to her somewhere a bit quieter to see if we can find that spark.
How would you rate the date out of 5 stars?
4/5 – great person, could have used a slightly quieter location for a first date
Hi Jess! What were your first impressions of Lizzy?
She was super friendly, chatty and easy to have a conversation with, which really helped to put me at ease as I was a bit nervous at first!
Did you have anything in common?
We both love cooking and baking! I enjoyed discussing all the dishes we've made (and times where it went wrong...) and hearing Lizzy's stories about cooking meals for her flatmates. Like me, Lizzy also seemed like the type who's always down to try new things, which I'm sure will come in handy if we meet up again!
What did you guys talk about?
A lot of things, but highlights include films, places we would like to travel to and a lot about our dogs!
How did you find the Holy Hobo/ The quiz?
I thought it was small but cosy; the best type of bar in my opinion! I heard that their pub quiz "isn't like any other pub quiz" and it sure wasn't; the questions were a lot harder than your average pub quiz, but it was very interactive which more than made up for it.
Describe the date as one drink.
Definitely a passion fruit martini; fun and adventurous yet comfortable. Speaking of, I discovered that the Holy Hobo does a great passion fruit martini!
If you did the quiz which was the best section, and why?The section where you had to guess a song's name and artist from a short clip was pretty intense. It definitely had us both jogging our memory!
Do you think you'll see each other again?
Absolutely, if Lizzy is up to it of course!
How would you rate the date out of 5 stars?
4/5. My only issue was that the quiz made it a little harder to keep a conversation going, however having an activity to do during the date made it feel a lot less nerve wracking!
