The introduction of  F1 Academy into motorsport has demonstrated the ground-breaking impact women and girls can bring to sport if given the right avenues.

F1 Academy has the potential to transform the landscape of motorsport; bringing in new fans, new dynamics and, most importantly, new and exciting competition. If the 2023/24 F1 season has proven anything, the unpredictable, competitive dynamics bring in an audience.

Yet, with limited races within the calendar season, the impact of the F1 Academy is stunted. For example, compared to the ten F3 rounds, there are only seven F1 Academy rounds for these women to showcase their talent and capabilities throughout the race season. Without the opportunities for more exposure, teams and sponsors will continue to be hesitant to fund female drivers, particularly within the early parts of their careers.

Despite significant headway being made this season, with drivers having the opportunity to earn FIA super license points, they still need more consistent support from stakeholders to overcome the barriers of single-seat racing.
