The education system is simply not designed for us. There isn’t enough inclusion for all students, we are just not catered for. The way we are expected to learn and reproduce from memory is too high of an expectation - and many of us are feeling the pressure.
But this feeling isn’t just limited to this period, as many of us spend months studying and working hard to avoid anxiety as much as possible during exam season. Yet, it seems like it’s never enough. Especially since 75% of us are still feeling the immense pressure.
The Lancashire Telegraph wrote about how recent studies are proving this - with 75% of students suffering from severe anxiety during exam season. Most of this is accredited to the high-stress importance of results as the gateway to a career. Isn’t it terrifying how your future all depends on a sheet of paper?
A famous quote to keep in mind during this time: “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
We are not stupid. But a piece of paper attempting to tell us how the rest of our lives are going to go definitely is rather stupid. Try to put it into perspective this exam season.
That being said - I will be permanently residing in the corner of the Phil Rob trying to get all of this semester’s readings done in a week… Best of luck everyone!
