In anticipation of Remembrance Day, LNER has launched a new train to honour and remember those who have previously served and continued to do so. The train, named “Thank You”, is wrapped in a poppy design and will travel the East Coast line.

The train was welcomed into service by former Royal Navy Petty Officer Helen Firth and Royal Air Force Senior Aircraftman Will Warwick, before embarking on its long journey from London King’s Cross to Aberdeen.

James Downey, Director of Business Services and Executive sponsor of LNER’s veterans’ community stated : “As a signatory of the Armed Forces covenant, we feel it is incredibly important to show our debt of gratitude to those who have served and continue to do so. We are proud that Azuma 800111 will carry our message of thanks. We hope this special livery acts as a moving reminder to all who see ‘Thank You’ on your route.

This is not the first time LNER have launched a special liveried train in support of a cause. “Our Planet” was launched in September 2024, as part of LNER’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable travel, and the “Eleanor” train was launched in February, in celebration of their puppet mascot.
