In the past few months, with the new season updates, Marvel Rivals have decided to add new playable characters. Those characters are Mr Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Thing, and The Human Torch. This move was strategically done soon after Marvel Studios decided to release the first trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps. This attracted more fans to the game since fans from the films are attracted to the game, bringing in an even larger player base. Furthermore, this shows that the Marvel Rivals team are more dedicated to their fanbase and the game since they are releasing more characters than their biggest competitor: Overwatch Two.

They first added Mr Fantastic (Reed Richards) and The Invisible Woman (Sue Storm) to the game. This iconic power couple has move sets reflective of their comic book counterparts. Reed is a duellist and uses his stretch powers as his primary fire to have a ranged melee attack, this is paired with the secondary fire of being able to grab other players closer to him. He also can bulk up his chest and rebound projectiles to the original player. Pair this with his ultimate ability to bounce around the map and deliver serious amounts of damage to other players.

Sue is a strategist, focusing on supporting her teammates and keeping them safe. She has a light orb projection attack that will heal teammates and the ability to turn invisible. She can also create force fields which allow allies to be undetectable and heal over time. She also can slow other players down by creating an opposing force against them.

Now these two characters are great, but here's The Thing… he is a Vanguard who focuses more on defending his teammates and creating opportunities for duellists to strike. His move set includes a rapid melee punch as his primary fire. He also has an ability named after his iconic catchphrase: “it’s clobberin’ time” which propels enemy players into the sky. He can also charge forward whilst punching and healing himself to create space and defend himself.

Finally, they have added the Golden Boy Johnny Storm/Human Torch. He has constant free-flight ability, allowing him to be a sky-bound duellist. His primary fire is a fire blast, then his secondary places a firepit on the ground which can join up with others to create a flame wall. With his ultimate being a barrage of flaming tornados.
