There are many rites of passage for a student in Newcastle from Karaoke at Cosy Joes, drinking three trebles for £10 and having a bonfire on Tynemouth Beach when the sun comes out. However, here are some personal bucket list items for my uni experience to inspire you to make your own.
  1. Run the Great North Run

As an avid runner, I am keen to run The Great North Run in September. A ten-mile race around the city and Gateshead, including across the iconic Tyne Bridge is a great way to experience the city. I have also done The Great South Run in Portsmouth, so it feels only fitting to complete both.

  1. See a football match and St James’ Stadium

Although I’m not a massive football fan, the appeal of a home game for the black and white army is enough to pull me in. I want to get in the mood to scream at men running around kicking a ball with a black and white scarf wrapped around my neck and a Newky brown in hand.

  1. Try every food stall at Quayside Sunday market

For anyone who doesn’t know the Quayside Sunday food market - get to know. From Ethiopian, and Chinese dumplings to Sri Lankan stir fry, there really is something for everyone. And everything tempts me when I go, so my goal is to try every stall over the four years I’m here!
