It has replaced the famous red and blue joysticks...
The device is a more modern look of the iconic predecessor, it has replaced the famous red and blue joysticks instead making them have a black case with a salmon pink and baby blue accents. Furthermore, it has replaced the lackluster kickstand of the original, making it much more functional and practical. Some other physical improvements are: a new dock stand with rounded corners; a larger screen, improving by 25%; new buttons, with a new square button for opening in-game communication.
The joycons have a mouse-like functionality creating for possibilities for gaming...
The Switch 2 also has major gameplay improvements, most noticeably is the new joysticks. The original had a simple lock and place system which caused issues amongst users due to “stick drifting” (causing involuntary movement of a character in a game), the new version has a, possibly, magnetic connection causing the joysticks to snap into place to prevent and avoid this issue. Furthermore, the joycons themselves have a mouse-like functionality creating more and more possibilities for gaming and even furthering Nintendo's reach into more mainstream titles.
This leads onto the issue with the original which is storage. It is widely regarded that the original console has a lackluster amount of storage, which is understandable due to its small size. This is one issue that wasn’t spoken about in the preview, which was more of a physical showcase. With the preview, we see a look at the first game teased which is a new Mario Kart (official name is still unknown). The small snippet of gameplay seen shows new animations and map which has already got fans analysing every change of the characters seen.
It could create a new wave of cross platform gaming...
The Switch 2 could be an exciting development in gaming, due to its small size yet (hopefully) powerful system it could create a new wave of cross platform gaming creating more possibilities for bigger and smaller companies alike.
