In 2022, Northumbria police failed to send officers to over 23,000 reports of anti-social behaviour. Only 45% of anti social incidences that were reported has officers sent to them - which was a decrease from 2019 where 60% of incidences were responded too.

Counsillor Colin Ferguson, Leader of Newcastle’s liberal democrats has outwardly criticised the current approach to anti social crime and have stated that Labour party has “lost control of anti social behaviour in Newcastle"

Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, Kim McGuinness has responded to by stating this is a result of decreasing police budgets as Northumbria Police has lost 1,100 officers and £148 million pounds from their budget since 2019. McGuinness empathized that in order to combat anti social behaviour there needs to be investment in front line policing but without a sufficient budget it becomes increasingly difficult to do so.
