Recently, I got a gym membership, and wanting to get my moneys worth means going at least 3 times a week. But with a spread-out university timetable, alongside just general “adult” life, fitting in a quick gym sesh means going in the middle of the day. So yeah, I’m not always so fresh in lectures and seminars! From first hand experience, here are a few tips on how to keep fit and keep going.
The main thing is what you wear. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the popularity of so-called ‘athleisure’ means that wearing your gym kit (probably lycra leggings and top) is definitely more appropriate in formal settings, such as university. For me, being able to wear my gym kit under a hoody is both comfortable in my lectures and then only a quick change when heading to the gym. Always carry deodorant, and possibly some body spray, for afterwards. As for that sweaty hair, dry shampoo both refreshes and revives your hair, hiding the fact you’ve probably just been dripping in sweat (disgusting I know, but we all do it!). You can go longer between hair washes by using the hairdryers at the gym to dry your sweaty roots off before spraying. I usually stick to lighter makeup to make sure as little can sweat off as possible – concealer, bit of cream blush, mascara and of course, the brows. But many people prefer to gym make-up free!
But remember as well though, if you do happen to have a little extra time, you could always take a change of clothes, and use the gym showers to feel extra squeaky clean!
