There are plenty of fun tropes that I love to read but this article ranks my top five, alongside a few examples if you want to give any a try!

Enemies to Lovers

Enemies to lovers provides that little bit of escapism from day to day life that I love. There is rarely a book I enjoy more than one with an enemies to lovers plot. From Pride and Prejudice to A Court of Thorns and Roses, enemies to lovers has captured generations of people's interest and you simply can't persuade me that it's not one of the most interesting narratives to read, particularly when there's a happy ending (sorry Romeo and Juliet).

Opposite's attract (specifically grumpy x sunshine)

But Addie this is just enemies to lovers but without some swords or fantasy, you cry. But no, one grouchy person falling desperately in love with a bubbly, unstoppable force of happiness. Gets me every time. Especially if the grumpy one falls first without the other being any the wiser. My favourite grumpy x sunshine story has to be The Love Hypothesis, by Ali Hazelwood which while no literary masterpiece is one of the best and most enjoyable examples of this trope I've come across.

Office Romance

Any fans of The Office will understand this being third on the list of my favourite quotes. Jim and Pam will forever hold a place in my heart that is unparalleled. Plus who doesn't want to believe their office crush could turn into more.

Friends to lovers

Friends to lovers is probably one of the tropes that's easiest to find a cracking story for. Everyone has watched, read or enjoyed some form of entertainment that surrounds two (or more?!) friends taking their relationship to something more. Having a crush on a friend has probably happened to most people unlike, say, having a sworn enemy, so it's easy to see why these narratives are so common and popular.

Give me a Monica and Chandler from Friends or Charlie and Nick from Heartstopper type of love.

Fake relationship

Fake... until it's not. Yes please!

Give me yearning whilst they're also forced into increasingly awkward situations please and I will purchase without a second thought. One of my favourites is Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating which is a YA, sapphic novel.

I feel I should have some honourable mentions that didn't quite make it into my top five: miscommunication, second chance and holiday romance are all great examples of some tropes that I will usually pick up a book for.
