Based on the popular books by Aaron Blabey, this new animation shows a group of heist-committing criminals but with a twist – they’re all animals. Think Sing but with a lot more illegal activity and a lot less… well, singing! Or even a revamped version of a classic we all grew up with, Madagascar. With a star-studded cast including Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina and Richard Ayoade (alongside many more big names), the film follows Mr Wolf and his gang of feisty friends on their journey to be bad, by attempting to be good - and of course, as with all action-packed films, hilarious consequences along the way.
I’m hoping this film is perfect for kids, with just the right amount of adult humour to keep the parents interested.
With a slightly more comic-book type animation look, the trailer introduces the so-called gang members: Mr Wolf; Ms Tarantula; Mr Piranha; Mr Snake and Mr Shark. So pretty much the animals you wouldn’t want to encounter, even on a good day! Rated PG in the UK, I’m hoping this film is perfect for kids, with just the right amount of adult humour to keep the parents interested. And looking so far so good in terms of keeping up with previous adventures of talking animals, such as Secret Life of Pets and the previously mentioned Sing and Madagascar.
So, despite feeling a little familiar, hopefully, The Bad Guys will surprise audiences and be the little dose of laughter we all crave! Go see the chaos in cinemas from the 1st of April 2022.
