What teams should managers prioritise in light of the upcoming blank fixtures?

When it comes to double gameweeks and blanks, the coast isn’t clear just yet. This is particularly evident in gameweeks 32 and 33 as 8 and 4 teams respectively blank. Nevertheless, Aston Villa vs Man City, Aston Villa vs Everton, Spurs vs Southampton, Southampton vs Crystal Palace and Leicester vs West Brom are yet to be scheduled and will be integrated into future double gameweeks . Therefore this preview prioritises the teams who avoid a blank fixture in the upcoming schedule.

Wolves vs West Ham

Wolves embark on a glorious period of fixtures, whilst evading any blanks. These fixtures include: West Ham (H), Fulham (A), Sheffield United (H), Burnley (H), West Brom (A) and Brighton (H). Wolves assets are also low owned, with the highest owned player being Pedro Neto (6.8%), making them ideal differentials. In Wolves’ last 10 games, they have kept 4 clean sheets and conceded 9 goals, with only Chelsea, Brighton and both Manchester clubs conceding fewer goals in this period, highlighting the potential for future clean sheets. Having found the net 3 times this season, Romain Saiss (£4.8m) is the standout defensive option, given that he has registered 16 shots in the box, compared to Connor Coady’s 5.

Manchester United vs Brighton

The Red Devils fixtures accommodate the upcoming gameweek 32 and 33 blanks, as they host Burnley and travel to Leeds, which is ideal for managers who like to have squad depth in order to rotate. Luke Shaw (£5.2m) is a player on everyone’s lips currently and his recent form is justifying his strong claim for a place in the team of the season.

The England international has been a peripheral figure to United’s creativity, creating 2.19 chances per 90 this season, which amounts for 20% of United's chances created per 90.

Shaw has 5 goal involvements in his last 9 league games, which for a defender in FPL is gold dust, so there is a significant risk in not owning him this week given that United play Brighton this weekend. Shaw has also accumulated 20 bonus points this season, with only Aaron Cresswell matching this for defenders.
