Want to get involved in the wider world of food, helping shape the future, boost your CV and have a chance to win some extra cash? Well Voice Explores Food and Drink might be for you!

A community of volunteers embedded within the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing at our university, Voice is an organisation that brings together the real-life experience of others to address global challenges and build strategies around healthy living. This opportunity, open to students of all ages here at the university, is solely based on your own experiences within the theme of food and drink, whether this be any changes you have made to improve your health, or what drives you to make certain food choices. The idea is to gather insights on these topics, debating common areas within your everyday life experience that you describe, assessing climate, cost and convenience. Voice is reaching out to our student body to help students to be heard, using our answers to shape future research on food and the health of our nation. We’re all constantly thinking about our next meal, so why not let Voice know the struggles of staying healthy as a student on a budget or your own motivations behind cutting back those pints at Luthers?

Why not let Voice know the struggles of staying healthy as a student on a budget?

With this being one of the first debates of Voice’s new research series, you have the opportunity to take part in snap polls and thought-provoking questions regarding food, ultimately being invited to join a food and drink-themed online debate. Of course, there are a couple of incentives to say thank you for any insights you give, with your involvement with this specific survey entering you into a rather attractive £50 gift voucher draw. As if monetary gain wasn’t enough, getting involved with NICA and Voice will also boost that CV you’re trying to bulk up in only a matter of minutes!

Wondering whether you have enough time for a commitment like this? Signing up comes with a flexibility other volunteering positions don’t allow for, as you can get involved with as many or as few projects with Voice. Who knows, you might even come across one of their paid opportunities to draw in a little more cash whilst being part of a community of “innovation-ready citizens” and helping generations to come. Similarly, not all of their opportunities are online, so if you fancy attending in Newcastle or travelling across the UK to meet like-minded people then get signed up pronto!

If you are interested in going further and continuing your input across other Voice projects, then we’ve got you covered. With this food and drink event being the first block of many, other topics coming up such as finance, beauty and housing will also be available in the following months. Just keep an eye on your emails once you have signed up! Voice want future research to be led by people like us, especially as students are at the forefront of their own research, so why not contribute to industry research alongside your own studies!

As a member of Voice myself, it’s pretty rewarding to know that by simply giving a couple of minutes to complete these surveys, I am aiding future studies regarding dietary habits, anxieties of living with ever-inflating prices and our impact on the environment. An extra bonus when signing up is that there are a bunch of paid roles available for students that I have been able to apply for to stretch that budget a little further.

If Voice has caught your interest then click the link below and head to their website to find out more. Grab this opportunity to get involved with Voice Explores Food and Drink before it closes on the 11th of February!
