As a second year I didn’t really think there would be much more of Newcastle to explore, however I was completely wrong. Moving from student accommodation and going out every night to Jesmond and chilling in Bar Blanc is quite the shift.

"If you are looking for great food and adorable pink aesthetics, this is the best place to get a sandwich with your friends..."

I had heard so much about Jesmond in first year, that it was posh, had lots of bars and little shops, but I had no idea how much of a treasure trove it would be for cafes to study in and places to get your new favourite clothes. One of my favourite spots is the Pink Lane Bakery in West Jesmond. If you are looking for great food and adorable pink aesthetics, this is the best place to get a sandwich with your friends or a coffee for a study date. West Jesmond is full of adorable cafes, and this is definitely a favourite. Another place is Osborne Road’s flower café. I had been, in first year to the flower café next to monument, however the Jesmond one has such a nice vibe! The coffee is super affordable and has several unique flavours, but even better, the café turns into a bar at night! With great food and the drinks flowing it is such a great place to take your friends or go on a date night.

"Padded jackets, shiny shoes and a huge claw clip is where the trend begins..."

A discovery I would’ve never expected, is how serious Jesmond girls take their fashion sense, the clothes are seriously clothing. Padded jackets, shiny shoes and a huge claw clip is where the trend begins, so clothes shopping is worth taking a look at, especially in Jesmond. One of my favourite things to do is to go around the charity shops, because Jesmond is such a stylish town, people give away some absolute gems. In addition though, if you want some more pricey but adorable accessories or jumpers, Oliver Bonus it the place to go.

Food and fashion are clearly at the forefront of the discoveries i've had this semester so far, but living in Jesmond, you’ll never be short of the best sweet treats and fashion statements.
