Steven Knight, who is best known for his creation of BBC hit series Peaky Blinders, has now been tasked with creating and producing a brand new movie depicting Oasis’ grand reunion tour. According to a press release, the film will be made alongside the shows in the summer, though details are minimal at this time.

Oasis, who broke up in 2009 amidst a backstage brawl, announced their reunion in August last year and have several shows lined up for the coming months. Starting in Cardiff on July 4th, the band will travel all through the UK and Ireland, including five shows in their hometown of Manchester before departing for North America, South America, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Asia.

There has been much nervous angst surrounding these headline shows with the band initially announcing that "it will not be televised". Additionally, Liam teased on Twitter that the show will last a total of 59 minutes and 59 seconds, and while this is typical Liam Gallagher's sarcastic style, it has stirred up apprehension among fans, especially when standing tickets to see the Manchester brothers began at £150.

Knight will also be joined by filmmakers Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace who have worked together extensively, their catalogue including No Distance Left To Run which depicted Blur’s reunion tour and earned a Grammy nomination.

There is still little information available on the content of the movie with a release date and title unknown. Yet, Knight, who received praise for his new 19th century Disney+ drama, A Thousand Blows, has stirred up excitement amongst fans who are eager to see his take on the film. Additionally, based on what Lovelace and Southern devised with No Distance Left To Run, unseen archive and interview footage may be featured. The film will also be distributed by Sony Music Vision.

Recently, sources close to NME and the Gallagher brothers, leaked the line-up for Oasis Live ‘25. Noel Gallagher will feature on guitar and vocals while Liam takes centre stage with main vocals and tambourine. Bonehead will assume his normal position as lead guitar with Gem Archer, while Joey Waronker takes drums and Andy Bell leads bass.

With very little details available, it is hard to comment on what the film will entail or whether it will even be considered a documentary. Nonetheless, Knight’s role in producing the film has certainly drummed up excitement among Oasis fans and it will be interesting to see what route he chooses when crafting this new picture.
